A typical ground source heat pump system will use horizontal ground loop pipes buried about 1-2 meters below the surface which collect heat from the ground in cold weather, to be used within the house. In warm weather the system is reversed to dissipate heat from the house into the ground. Alternatively a horizontal loop can be used to access heat deeper within the ground. |
